Kuala Lumpur Day 2

(I shall experiment with inserting photos along the way)

So there we were in the Capital of the federation of Malaysia. Had a good sleep on the sofa, and woke up to find the first light streaming in through the windows. I got my first view (of this trip) of Malaysia in daylight.

Went down to the Gobo Chit Chat (yes that's the name) cafe for breakfast. Quite a good spread of many types of cuisine. Like Jap, Malsyaian, Western etc. Next, we proceeded to the Hotel's skybar to grab a few photos of the petronas twin towers in daylight.

The petronas twin towers, tallest buildings in the world Malaysia

After some time at the skybar, we decided to visit the KL tower for some more panoramic views of the city. Observation towers are great for landscape photography, and I love the height and the great views from the top. Then we pay RM38 (S$15) to ascend the tower. And then use binocolars to look at buildings and streets at the bottom.

The KL Tower

Above all

Like an extra value meal, the Tower was the main course. There were also some side dishes such as riding a horse ride, racing in an F1 simulator, and visiting an exotic mini zoo with frogs inside, among other animals. After that, we took a cab to the National Planeterium. Now if there's on e thing I hate about Malaysian cabs, its not because they dont have a meter, but they don't use it. Drivers would try their level best to settle on a suitable price overcharge you.

Reached there and took a look at Malaysia Disneyland, before proceeding back to KLCC and shopped around Kino for a few books and scores. As usual, we bought a whole lot of nothing, before retreating back into the hotel room, where we relaxed a played a few rounds of Seelers of Catan.

We had dinner at KFC. There was no Bishan Gay there, so we got a table and ordered a whole lot of food. Following that, it was time for the concert! Made our way to Dewan Filharmonik Petronas, the Esplanade of Malaysia. Quite a nice place in Malaysia.

At the foyer

The concert was nothing short of spectular! Hmm its hard to decide which one was my favourite, I think I enjoyed the credit card piano and the mozart pieces. =D Go see their videos on Youtube(r) !

It was autograph time after the concert! And we didn't just get an autograph, we got a personal video interview with them! See it in the videos section.

The day was drawing to an end, so it was backk to Trader's hotel for us. We went back to the skybar first though, for some very impressive views of the city and KLCC. ok it's midnight. I shall continue what we did later in the next post! (doesn't this imply that we didn't sleep? =p )

Night shots of petronas towers

(And I think this post has too many petronas twin towers. But hey it's nice right? =p )

Kuala Lumpur Trip - Day 1

The three of us (aaron, jinjun and me) had decided to watch the igudesman and joo concert in Kuala Lumpur. While the two of them took an early afternoon flight there, I was only free in the evening and travelled there on another later flight.

Travelling is fun=p For me, this journey began when i arrived at Terminal 1 of WSSS/SIN (Singapore Changi Airport) at around 6pm on monday morning. I proceeded to row 7 and collected the boarding passes for my flight, Japan Airlines JL721. well, as you all know, i don't really like most budget airlines (especially a certain one with stripes for a tail) as i've never flown japan airlines before, i decided to fly with them. An added bonus was that the aircraft used was a Boeing 767-300. You don't really see that plane much around this region. As we all know, Singapore is a320 (which i try to avoid flying, much like i try to avoid scania k230s) and b777 lands.

I entered the transit area (or if you put it, no man's land) and scanned my passport at the electronic immigration machine. As I had time, I decided to walk around and explore T1, and took a look at the areas in the midst of their renovation and refurbishment works, hopefully for the better. Lots of wooden hoardings all round, but the completed areas looked rather nice. Took many photos of the place too. Probably one of my last trips to the transit area of pre-refurbished 'original' Terminal 1.

When the time came, i proceeded to the boarding gate. And there was JA615J happily waiting for me. Boarded the aircraft at around 7.55. As usual, japanese efficiency meant that the plane left on the dot at 8.10, not a moment too early or late. thus i entered japan before i entered Kuala Lumpur:) (aircraft was registered in japan) inside, i felt i was in japan haha, due to the presence of a big bunch of japanese schoolgirls (who, did i mention, scream as soon as the plane V2ed?) and japanese reading material. This flight had one of the steepest inclines i've experienced, as if the pilot just jam pulled the yoke up. Quite cool:)

Japan airlines' new seats were really comfortable, and the service was great. Pity it was only a 1-hour flight. would want to try them again next time=)

Reached KL after a really short flight. I walked out through the jetway and got my glimpse of KLIA. my first impression was that it was rather 'cold'. Not literally of course, but it was mostly metallic and grey hardness, and there were few people in my part of the satellite terminal.

Walked to the centre rainforest and explored the terminal a bit. And saw this: 'KLIA-WORLD'S BEST AIRPORT*' =/ what a nice way to start the day. following that i took the aerotrain (Bombardier CX100 cars, which totally reminded me of the bukit panjang LRT.) the main terminal's layout really reminded me of Hong Kong's airport, especially the baggage claim area. While filling up the arrival card, i had a problem. Not that there no ink in the pens, but that there were stacks and stacks of arrival cards. But no free pens available. (eventually i found one)Following that, I cleared imigrisen immigration and took the KLIA ekspres to town.

The train reminded me of the airport ekspres express in Hong Kong, just that the trains were made by different manufacturers. The ones in KL were by Siemens, the same company which made some of the MRT cars back here in Singapore. So anyway, the journey took 28mins, depositing me in KL Sentral, where i transfered onto the local Kelana Jaya LRT line, which i took for a few stops to the KLCC Station. This line was one of my most travelled foreign subway lines, and so it was nothing very new for me.

Upon reaching klcc, i met up with the rest of my travelling party who had just come from the first day's concert. After a few photo opportunities at the base of the petronas twin towers, the tallest buildings twin towers in the world, we retreated back to our room at the traders hotel, where we had traditional malaysian food from mcdonald's for supper. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

To be continued.:)
